Miss Yat Lai Chan

Yat Lai earned a First-Class Honours degree in Music from King’s College London, whilst specialising in piano performance at The Royal Academy of Music. She then furthered her musical studies at the University of Oxford, where she obtained a Master of Music Performance whilst receiving instrumental tuition at The Royal College of Music.

Yat Lai also holds a Licentiate Piano Diploma from Trinity College London (LTCL), and has studied under the tutelage of Ms Nancy Loo, Professor Dina Parakhina, and Ms Anna Szalucka. She has performed at prestigious concert venues, including the Holywell Music Room in Oxford, St James’s Church in London and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre alongside pianist Lang Lang.

Despite her achievements as a pianist, Yat Lai has always known that her interest lies in music education - particularly that of piano pedagogy. As a teacher, she is passionate about helping students discover their full potential through methods that are fun, creative and mentally-stimulating. More importantly however, she is determined to help the younger generation cultivate a lifelong passion for the piano, rather than a short-lived pursuit for certificates.

Yat Lai has been trained under HKAPA’s Creative Music Teaching Course on Kodaly, Orff and Dalcroze Approaches, and was awarded a top score of 99% during her pedagogical training with the The Royal Conservatory of Music. Yat Lai has also served as an Assistant of Music at Harrow International School (HK), and is experienced working with students of various age groups.
